Sitting here, watching the Simpsons, made me think.

It's the episode about Homer meeting the gay man and freaking out. As a kid, I found Homer's reaction hilarious. I mean seriously, so what, the guy was gay? What was the big deal. As I grew up, I realized that Homer's original attitude was pretty common. Although he eventually learned some tolerance, it is still sad to watch it, knowing people everywhere still think like that. That their kids will be turned gay simply by being around gay people. It's mind boggling to say the least.

It made me think about my own experiences in that area. I am not gay, so what I say is second hand. My aunt and Grandfather are both gay and they had a terrible time. My aunt was robbed several times coming home from work. My grandpa(actually a family friend but I called him grandpa) had to hide what he was at times in order to survive. Although in some areas he could be open about his sexuality, there were places he could not. And there are still places where mentioning you are gay will get the crap beat out of you.

Well, that's it for now.
